5 Reasons Why You Should Memorize Scripture
Ever memorized Scripture? ⠀Taking the time to do so is, hands down, one of the BEST ways for us to take care of ourselves. The Word of God is living & active. When we fill ourselves with it, the Word then becomes living & active in us!Let’s take a look at five reasons why you should memorize God’s Word:1. If we want to become more like Christ, we have to know what He was really like. Memorizing Scripture shifts our focus off of ourselves & on to Christ. As a result, our understanding of Him becomes clearer & we find ourselves further transformed into His image. (Joshua 1:8, Matthew 4:4).2. We become more & more equipped to battle Satan & his schemes. We also find ourselves stronger with Scripture on our side & in our hearts in the face of temptation. When Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, He quoted Scripture by heart & watched as Satan fled the scene. (Matthew 4:1-11, Psalm 119:11)3. We have an opportunity to share the Gospel with those around us, even when we don’t have our Bibles with us. What a special way to comfort others. What a special way to witness to the truth that the Bible has the power to comfort, protect & transform our hearts for His glory & our good. (Luke 6:45, 1 Peter 3:15)4. Our understanding of the Gospel grows, allowing us to truly relate to the Father for who He really is in our day-to-day. (Psalm 103:8-14, Colossians 1:17, Ephesians 3:20)5. It gives us words when we have no words. It allows us to comfort others & remind them of the truths worth holding onto during hard times. God’s supernatural power lies within His word. When we speak His truths over His people, His power is made present in ways we cannot fully comprehend. (Deuteronomy 31:8-9, Psalm 46:1, John 14:16-17, Romans 8:18)Give it a go, sis. You’ve got this!
