Break The Barriers
While taking a morning walk and listening to my favorite podcast just recently, I was startled by a rather sizable barking Labrador that came barreling toward me. I stood, paralyzed in fear, until I realized the dog had stopped in its tracks just short of leaving its yard. An invisible fence transmitted a signal to the dog's collar, keeping it from roaming outside its yard. And it got me thinking about the invisible fences that pose a threat to us spiritually.
Have you ever felt an invisible fence holding you back from pursuing God's assignment for your life?
The barriers may not be visible to the naked eye, but there are invisible fences hindering you spiritually- fear, inadequacy, misplaced identity, you name it. Unfortunately, these invisible fences are usually built with our own hands.
If you have ever pursued a dream only to be yanked back by one of these invisible fences, you are not alone. Even Moses struggled with invisible fences.
In Exodus 4:10-11, Moses said to the Lord, "Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." The Lord said, "Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."
Moses insisted that God use someone else, and the Lord's anger burned against him. Moses believed more in his inadequacies than in the Lord's power. Can you relate?
God says this assignment is for us, yet, how often do we say, “I can't, Lord, please choose someone else.” Interestingly, we often regret this choice of disobedience. Why? Because we were created to bear fruit and do good works ordained by God (2 Tim 3:17).
Sister, it’s time to dismantle the belief system keeping us behind the fence. The first step is understanding our identity in Christ. When we adopt God's narrative for our life, the gates fly open to free us from old beliefs that don't fit who we are as new Creations in Christ.
