“Then Moses said to him, 'If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.'”-Exodus 33:15 (NIV)
Like most of us, Moses was anticipating this next level and courageously said, "God, if You're not coming with, I don't want to go either." Many of us are chasing something, but how many of us are willing to say, “God, I refuse to do this without you” and then actually surrender our plans?Sometimes we just take off without God. We get so caught up in living up to standards or conceiving plans never intended for us. We end up pursuing other people's assignments simply because we see it working for them, of course, it's going to work for them, it's their assignment! Now you're distracted and neglecting your own. Then we wonder why things are falling apart or why they're not working out, and it’s simply because that wasn’t the field He called us to work in.In the verse before, Moses was literally asking God how to lead those following him and God simply said, "My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest." I would've been like, "Okay, but.. that doesn't really answer my question..." But everything we needed to know was packed in that answer.
Sis, you don't have to have everything figured out. Your answers will be found in your secret place. You cannot go to heights without first going deep with God. Choose to rest in His goodness and invite Him along, refusing to plan or act without Him. If you find yourself exhausted, running in the wrong direction or even running alone, there's always time to regroup. So, let's.
“God, if we’ve gotten ahead of ourselves, if we’ve lost You in the process, if we’ve drowned out your voice, I pray that Your direction becomes very clear. Remove the fog that clouds our vision. Turn our ears so that we may hear You. We trust you with our today, our tomorrow and we know that Your love will sustain us even when things don't make sense because you are the Maker of Sense. Do with our lives as you please. We don't want to go anywhere Your Presence is not. Pull us closer. Take us deeper. In Jesus' name, we pray."
