Daily Delight
I love people even though I’ve been hurt by people.Sometimes I feel like my entire life has been this massive chase trying to locate those who would invite me to sit at their table and accept me as I am.We were designed to gather together, to live in community. However, people will often disappoint, and many times hurt us with their words or their actions. Words that could have been said in love are clothed in pride. Things are done that were acted out of selfishness. We begin to view one another as competition instead as companions who build one another up to serve the same purpose- glorifying God’s name and making Him known.“Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth.” -2 Timothy 2:22-25 (NIV)Gentleness. We were all made uniquely, and disputes will arise. God calls us to speak from a place of gentleness to everyone. Companions and opponents. From this disposition, we can present ourselves in a manner that is pleasing to God and reflects the tenderness that He shows us daily through His love, mercy, and grace. We weren’t created to make others feel less than, left out, demeaned, or have a “You can’t sit with us” edge.We were created to build a longer table and sit with our brothers and sisters in Christ who together want to pursue a faithful life accepting His peace in all circumstances. Everyone is invited to sit at the table with Jesus."So, pull up a chair sister. You are welcome here.
