As a single mom, to say I feel a bit exhausted from time to time is probably an understatement. I homeschool full-time, work from home, run a mentorship program, serve in ministry at my church, and do everything that comes with parenting a six-year-old. Even on my best days, I can feel completely drained by the end.

In my moments of pure exhaustion, I am sometimes guilty of trying to find every resource—whether it’s friends, coffee, a spa day, or a babysitter—to help me manage my load. As great and helpful as these things can be, the true fact of that matter is that none of these resources should come before or replace the source that is Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (ESV).

God’s strength is on full display when we are at our weakest. God’s best work is done when we are at our worst. God is not intimidated by the complexities of our lives or the sheer number of tasks we have to complete. God does not get overwhelmed or burdened when we turn to Him for help. Rather, He yearns for us to call on Him as our first choice, not our last resort.

When life seems like it’s a little too much and you feel as if you do not have the strength to go keep going, call on Jesus. He will empower you and supply you with everything you need in order to do what He has called you to do in this season.

For those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”-Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
