Daily Delight
Have you ever had a moment in your walk with God where you could feel Him tugging on your heart to do something a little out of your comfort zone? When you know you can hear Him and what He's telling you to do, but the task seems impossible, out of reach and really uncomfortable? If so, I feel you girl!
When I was in America, I served at a Christian camp. I was sitting in church one Sunday morning and suddenly heard the Lord telling me to open up to John 13. I had absolutely no clue what story of the Bible it was going to be, but I was eager to find out. I began to read, and it was the story of Jesus washing his disciples' feet. My stomach instantly got butterflies, and my heart began to tingle—I knew the Holy Spirit was calling me to not only share this story with my group in the coming week but to actually show an act of love by washing each other's feet, just as Jesus did.
This was petrifying, to say the least. I mean, really, who wants to sit and wash someone else's feet, let alone make this experience engaging enough that the focus will still be on Jesus? I tried to put this devotion off all week because at this stage, I was terrified of the reaction I was going to get. But to my surprise, the girls couldn't wait to do it! They told me that it made them feel special, loved and relaxed.
My encouragement to you, my beautiful sisters, is to pay close attention to the calling of God. Chase those dreams, push yourself, take risks, and trust our almighty powerful God. And know this: When God calls you to do something for Him, He isn't going to leave you stranded in the process. The blessings you receive when you say "Yes" to God much outweigh those few minutes of fear leading up to the victory.
"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun." -Psalm 37:5-6 (NIV)
