Embracing God's Promises: Renewal, Soaring Hope, Enduring Grace

A woman in a white dress and sun hat is pictured standing on a cliff taking in the view and the text of Isaiah 40:31 is pictured.

So many voices constantly bombard us with assurances of success: “You can do and have it all!” These promises often leave us more exhausted and longing for more.

Let us instead look to our God who will never fail us. Isaiah 40:31 gives three promises to those whose hope and expectation are in the Lord. “But those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint" (CSB).

First, let us examine what it means to trust in Jehovah. It is committing ourselves to His safekeeping and relying on Him for all our needs. I am amazed at how often my feeble heart easily loses sight of my dependable God. Everything and everyone else fails miserably in comparison to Him.

The first promise is that our strength will be renewed. Restoring things to their original state is what our God has been doing since the dawn of time. He restores us in His might, His never-failing strength is never depleted. He pledges to give us His strength as we depend on Him.

Secondly, God promises a dramatic increase in strength. Our Father will supernaturally work in us to give us the power to do what He has asked of us. God “make(s) every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work.”(2 Cor 9:8)

Finally, we are promised the endurance to press onward. As we run the race of the Christian life, God equips us to press on. Success in long-distance running comes from building up endurance over time. This is just as true in our walk with the Lord. The only way to gain endurance is to keep moving forward. Praise God that He is with us as we press on toward the prize. (Phil 3:14)

So dear sisters, let us stop trusting the voices around you promising what they cannot fulfill. Instead, let us daily commit to entrusting ourselves to the One who will never fail us. May we walk daily trusting Him for the strength, power, and endurance in His calling on our lives.
