When God Does More Than We Could Ask or Imagine: A Testimony from Our Women’s Ministry Event

For the past six months, I had the incredible opportunity to help plan a women’s ministry night at my church—and what God did exceeded anything we could have ever dreamed.

A Vision for Christian Women’s Community

It all began when a couple of our female leaders shared a vision for creating a powerful night of worship and connection for the women in our community. Their inspiration came from another church’s women’s retreat, and they wanted to bring that same spirit of renewal, encouragement, and sisterhood to our local church.

They gathered a group of female staff, myself included, and we began to plan a Christian women’s event we hoped would impact many hearts. What started as an idea quickly turned into something that could only be explained by the movement of God.

Planning for 500—But God Had Bigger Plans

When we first started organizing the event, we anticipated around 500 women. So, we ordered supplies and prepared accordingly. But as the event drew near, the number of women registering grew—and kept growing.

First, we surpassed 500. Then 600. Then 700. And finally, we hit 800.

On the night of the event, over 930 women had registered—almost double what we originally anticipated. We were in awe.

Scrambling and Trusting: A Loaves and Fishes Moment

Once we realized we’d be hosting more than 500 women, the preparation intensified. We scrambled to order more supplies, made countless store runs, and anxiously tracked shipping updates.

At one point, our lead organizer Lydia joked, “I think we need a fishes and loaves moment. We just need stuff to come out of our ears at this point.”

It felt like chaos, but we leaned into prayer and trusted that God would provide.

A Night to Remember: Worship, Fellowship, and God’s Presence

When the night finally arrived, the energy in the room was electric. Nearly 1,000 women gathered to seek, worship, and grow in their faith together. As one of the worship leaders, I stood on the stage and felt the weight of the moment—a room full of women lifting their voices to Jesus. It was a glimpse of heaven.

This wasn’t just a women’s night. It was a holy encounter. God was moving.

A Reminder of God’s Faithfulness

This women’s ministry event was a powerful reminder that God is more than capable. Despite our best efforts and detailed planning, He moved far beyond our expectations. He stirred hearts, opened doors, and showed up in every detail.

Even in the scrambling, the stress, and the unknowns, He was faithful.

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” — Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV)

Encouragement for Women in Ministry and Leadership

If you’re a woman involved in church leadership, event planning, or simply walking through a season that feels bigger than you—be encouraged. God delights in doing the impossible. He multiplies our offerings and moves in ways we can’t predict.

Trust that your obedience is not in vain. Your work matters. Your prayers are heard.

A Prayer of Thanks

Lord, thank You for being beyond what we could ever imagine.
May we always be in awe of who You are, what You’ve done, and what You will continue to do. All the glory belongs to You. In Your name we pray, Amen.
