The Promise of Reconciliation
Do you believe that reconciliation is possible? In the Kingdom of God, reconciliation is a promise.
The Promise of Reconciliation
In Colossians 1, we see that God, through the sacrifice of Jesus, has already reconciled all of creation to Himself. In verses 19 and 20, Paul writes, “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in [Jesus], and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross" (NIV). Through Jesus, God has opened up the door for all of creation to be healed and restored to its intended state.
God has also extended that reconciliation to us, inviting us into a relationship with Him and affording us the opportunity to engage with Him directly. In verses 21 and 22, Paul explains, "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation" (NIV). God's sacrifice of His Son has already re-named each one of us blameless and brought healing to the relationship we have with our Creator.
God is Actively Healing & Restoring
Perhaps the most incredible part about Kingdom reconciliation is that this is an on-going power. God is actively healing and restoring the brokenness in our lives, our relationships, and our world. In 1 Peter 5, Peter writes, "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast" (v. 10, NIV). God is actively at work in our lives, bringing refreshment to our souls, strength to our minds, and restoration to our hearts--something each one of us needs so desperately to experience.
