Daily Delight

The other day while eating lunch with a friend, I shared a circumstance going on in my life. We chatted about God's timing and the patience that was being taught. As I was talking, I looked out the window and witnessed something so beautiful...something that happens every day in the world but I had never actually witnessed it. 

A big black bird was flying gracefully in the sky and it was carrying its baby. And at just the right moment she dropped her baby and let her fly. She knew when her baby was ready to fly on its own, but she was still there beside it to catch its fall if needed.

This beautiful picture reminded me of how Christ carries us. He protects us and keeps us under His wings. He holds onto us in certain situations, and even when we think we are ready for something to happen or to fly on our own, He is the only one that knows the perfect timing and when we're ready to fly.  Then and only then will He let us fly on our own, but He doesn't ever leave our side. He's still there to catch is if we fall. 

In the same way, sometimes we feel as though we aren't ready to fly. And in those moments He makes us trust Him. He makes us have faith because He knows we're ready even if we think we aren't. 

He knows perfect timing in our lives. Not us. He knows when we will have the endurance to get through the circumstance we are about to face. 

"They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint." -Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

What wonderful truths He teaches us about life just by looking out a window.
