Daily Delight

My nearly thirty year marriage ended life as I had always known it. The pain of rejection is an almost unbearable ache to the soul. Shock and trauma punch into the gut, knocking the air out. My shallow breaths cried out to a God I couldn’t see, but Who I knew was there. Jesus held onto me as He carried me like a mighty ship carries her precious cargo across deep and troubled waters. I had the strong sense of being cradled in “the everlasting arms,” (Deuteronomy 33:27, NIV).

I clutched onto Christ with everything in me, for my very breath and life, and for the life of our 7 year old daughter. Christ was my constant in these uncharted waters (Hebrews 13:8).
My desire for as long as I can remember was to be married and have babies. So the splitting of our oneness was deep and painful. Sadness, anger and pain revealed themselves. At night I slept with my Bible over my heart because of the assaulting fears that came. When those haunting voices mocked me in the darkness, I would open God’s Word and replaced the fears and lies of the enemy with truth
Yes, I have failed and not been the person I’ve wanted to be, nor the wife I could have been. But I’ve reached for the forgiveness and comfort found only in Christ, and “received mercy and found grace to help in time of need,” (Hebrews 4:16, NIV). We can confidently trust God to be true to His Word (Joshua 23:14, ESV).
What would have become of me had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living! Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; Be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord. -Psalm 27:13-14 (AMP)
Jesus became my life, strength, comfort and guide. He is waiting to be the same for you, and for any who call on His Name.
