Daily Delight

It’s hard these days to find a voice - to find a voice in the midst of this very loud world, where everyone seems to be talking and no one seems to be listening. It’s even harder to be a voice. But we have all been given a mission by our Father, and with that mission He has given each of us a platform from which to accomplish it. Are you saying to yourself this morning, “I have no talents, no specialties to offer Him”? You’re wrong. He has given each of us exactly what we need to accomplish His purpose in us and shine His light into the darkness of this world. What is your platform? Take advantage of where you have been placed, whether it’s your job, your position in society, an actual talent, or your encouraging, outgoing spirit.

Esther’s story is a clear fit for this. In Esther 2:9 God gave her favor with the keeper of the king’s women. In verse 15 she obtains favor of all who look at her, and in verse 17 it says that the king loved her above all the women and made her queen. She was given her platform in a big way, and was used of God to deliver His people from mass destruction. But she did it with Him. In verse 16 both she and all of the Jewish people in Shushan fasted for three days before she took any action.
My favorite female Bible character is Jael. Talk about a Princess Warrior! In Judges 4 she used her position to be an instrument for the Lord. She used her position as a wife whose husband was at peace with the king of Canaan to convince the captain of his army to rest in her tent. She then used such tools as a woman could, like blankets and milk, to make him comfortable and drowsy so he would sleep. Lastly she had the courage God gave her to drive a tent spike through his head with a hammer!
The Bible is full of stories, every one of them a divine placement for the weaving of God’s beautiful tapestry. You are exactly where you need to be; He knows where He has placed you. Do you? Head into your new year with confidence in His wisdom and power.
