Daily Delight
This weekend we helped my parents move and they have so much stuff.A couple months ago, when my husband and I moved into van life full time, I realized we had so much stuff. When I look around at other's houses I see they have So. Much. Stuff. We have a disturbing addiction to material possessions, guys. And as women, oh you know we like stuff. We like closets full of cute outfits and, of course, shoes to match. We like our houses to be full of cute decor. Honestly, how full is your silverware drawer? Do you really need eighteen forks? My mom is going to be thrilled when she reads this but the other day she wore two different shoes...all day. She claims her closet doesn't have enough light... I think she's just got way too many shoes...like we all do.It's like we're in this race to build up as much stuff as we can, and for what? What do you have right now that you're taking with you into the next life? Not a thing, babe, not a thing. If our attachments to the physical world relented a little and we began a shift to attaching ourselves to the spiritual world; our stresses would diminish, our joy would exceed, our disappointments would disappear and, our peace would be unshakable. Let's start holding our things with an open hand and holding tightly to our Savior. Let's stop investing so much in this life and start investing in the next. Build up your treasure there. These ones won't last.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." -Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)
