But why is my tummy still so big?” I asked my husband as I stared at my body 4 weeks after giving birth. “Because you just had a kid, Faith.” He firmly, but lovingly said. “I know, but I just saw this fitness blogger and her tummy was a lot smaller at 4 weeks postpartum” I explained. “Were you unhappy with your progress before you compared it to hers?” He asked.Boom. Mic drop. It’s scary how stinkin' easy it is to slip into the trap of comparison in today’s world. And make no mistake, comparison is trap.No matter how “real” or authentic someone may seem on social media, it is still a one-dimensional view of their lives. A snapshot of a moment within a 24 hour day. Yes, she may have a six-pack and the other lady may have a designer home. But I can promise you that every area of their lives does not look that picture perfect. We all have areas of life that we excel in and some that we suck at. None of us are bomb at everything all the time. Each of us have strengths and gifts to bring to the table. And the sooner we stop comparing our gifts and just bring them to the table the sooner we will see a more complete picture of Jesus on this earth.

Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.”                -Galatians 6:4-5 (NLT)
