“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.
Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” - 1 John 4:14 (NIV)
Don’t love people based on the way they love you. Love them based on the way Christ loves you. Love. Love relentlessly. Love without regard for someone’s social status. Love without stopping to inquire if they’re deserving. Love without wondering what you can get out of the relationship.I understand. Loving people can be hard. They can be rude and unruly and sometimes just straight up mean and selfish, but choosing to love them truly will rid you of the bondage of people and caring what they think or letting their actions make your break your mood. When you’re choosing to love them and recognize that they are imperfect humans like you and you try to show them the same compassion that God has shown you, you’ll find that the things that aggravate you about them will becoming slightly less irking and here’s how.Think of that person, someone who just really gets under your skin, and genuinely ask God with your heart, “what do you love about them?” and let Him tell you. Put this down and just take a moment to let God work in your heart and ask.You just saw them through a different lens, didn’t you? God probably validated your frustrations with them, but he more than likely showed it to you through a filter of grace and compassion. You probably saw them through love even if just for a moment. Take that lens, that filter, and live in it seeing everyone through it and loving all things just as Christ has loved you.
