Daily Delight

Currently, my husband and I live in a converted van full-time. It's something we both wanted to try, temporarily, and we love it! We don't expect it to last very long but it's been quite the experience thus far. I will be honest though- I am not a fan of driving, nor do I like to ride in the car for very long. I love to travel, experience things and see new places, but the whole getting there process drives me nuts. That child that keeps asking if we're there yet and has to go to the bathroom about 6 minutes after you just got back in the car? Yeah, that's me. I can go from being absolutely thrilled about where I'm headed to entirely defeated and wanting to quit about an hour into the drive. This experience does not only manifest itself in road trips but in life as well. How many times do we get agitated, impatient and defeated when it comes to the road God has us on? How often are we so willing to follow God into battle but yet unwilling to follow him on the long path to the battlefield? We love the excitement and thrill of an eventful season but in the season of waiting we are miserable. We cannot let these lovely seasons of waiting just slip through our fingers! While this society often begs to differ, it is not all about getting there and achievement. It is often in the still of the night, in the wait, in the middle of monotony, that we begin to grow. It is not always what we do with the big moments that make us, but what we do with all the moments in between. Ask God to use your season of "waiting" to grow you and use you. A two week mission trip is great, but what about the last two years next to your neighbor?Getting a home run doesn't mean much if we don't pay attention while running the bases.

"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." -Psalm 27:14 (NIV)
