How do you deal with your wounds? How do you process your hurt?
Although it's a short verse, Ephesians 4:32 holds a heavy weight of truth for our relationships.
Think back to a time when someone close to you scratched up your soul a bit. It stung a little, right? It may still sting, but Jesus has a remedy and He wants that pain to subside today.
Showing someone kindness is a lot harder to do when it’s “undeserved”, right? In fact, when we are wounded emotionally our immediate response might be to withdraw kindness.
Sister, pause for a second and let me love you here.
I want us to recognize that the flesh inside the person that wounded you is the same flesh inside you tempting you to withhold kindness from them and hang onto the “hurt” you feel.
Chew on that for a second. Then, surrender your hurt to your Savior today.
Be kind to one another. Choose the opposite position of the flesh. Prayerfully commit to walking in kindness. Prayerfully commit. Prayerfully being the key word here gals. The Holy Spirit is here to help in our weakness.
Be tenderhearted. Soften your heart towards them. Surrender the sting that lingers in your soul to Jesus. That feeling doesn’t belong in your soul any longer. Release it, friend.
Forgive one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Choose to be a woman who forgives; a woman who reflects the character of Christ to those around her.
Today, I challenge you to walk in the fullness of who God is calling you to be. Choose kindness, soften your heart, and forgive because God did the same for you in Christ Jesus.
If you are feeling weak, ask Him for strength.
If you are reluctant, ask Him for a softened heart.
You have a beautiful soul capable of forgiving. Accept His remedy today.
