Daily Delight
I have been pushed further than I thought I could handle, Lord. My faith and trust in You have been tested repeatedly and I am exhausted. The amount of times I have gotten my hopes up just for them to fall to the ground again is too many to count. I have been riding this roller coaster, hoping and praying the ride will stop. Yet, around each curve, the track only continues. Where are the answers I have prayed for? Where is the news that I have waited on? Why hasn’t ____ happened yet? This is where I find myself today sister. Maybe you find yourself here, too.
As I sit with frustration, questions and pain in my heart, the Holy Spirit brings to mind the prayer I prayed when I got saved: “Lord, take who I am today and fashion me into a strong, wise, fearless woman of God. Do what you need to Lord. That is who I want to be.”
Do you remember asking God to do something similar for you? Sometimes, God leads us down a path that is not nicely paved or mapped out. Sometimes, He chooses to take us down a road that requires much more work, patience, energy and trust on our part. Although we don’t favor this approach, these challenging walks in life are when God does some of His best work in us. It is in these moments we need to cling to Hebrews 11:1: “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see” (NIV).
You see, years ago when I prayed that prayer, I hoped for God to shape me into a godly woman. Now, God is asking me to trust Him with my reality, as terrifying as that may seem at times. If you’re on a similar ride during this season of your life, let me encourage you with this: the journey God has you on is an opportunity for Him to reveal His goodness, trustworthiness and love towards you! He is shaping you as you walk this difficult path. He is molding you into the woman He purposed with every good and right intention for you to be.
Don’t give up. Keep walking by faith. Keep trusting Him. He’s got this!
