Daily Delight
A few days ago, I found myself praying for breakthrough in a decision that I have been trying to make for over a month now. I know the Lord has given us the ability to make good decisions through the Holy Spirit, but sometimes I fear that—no matter what I do—I will make the wrong decision. Have you been there?I have this weird belief that the opposite of making a good decision is a wrong decision, but there are no ‘right’ decisions. Weird, right? So, I weigh all of the pros and cons of almost every single decision that I have to make. And yet, this belief is so skewed. In the story of Gideon, we see Gideon test the Lord for confirmation by putting out fleece. In doing so, he received the answer that he asked God for not once, but twice. (Judges 6:36-40) What finally made Gideon obey the Lord was a Midianite’s dream that he overheard being discussed and interpreted. (Judges 7:9-18) The dream was about him defeating the Midianites. He finally obeyed after the enemy believed that he was going to defeat them.God graciously answered Gideon’s prayers multiple times and physically gave him answers to his prayers. Even still, it took multiple miracles and works of the Lord for Gideon to follow the call of the Lord.We can also be like Gideon sometimes. I know I was just like him while I was making this decision. I blatantly ignored what the Lord had put right in front of my face for so long out of the fear of making the wrong decision and disobeying. But, delayed obedience is still disobedience. Our Father wants us to obey His commands and worship Him. “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever” (John 14:15-16, ESV). Through the Holy Spirit, we can obey the Lord and do it the first time the Lord shows us.Sisters, let us pray and seek after the transforming of our hearts by the Holy Spirit so that we can obey the Lord the first time He shows us.
