Daily Delight
A year ago, I was believing lies about myself that I never thought I would be able to overcome. Today, those lies don’t have a hold on me anymore, but a set of completely different lies has begun to surface.The enemy “comes only to steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10, NIV), and he just loves to steal our joy away from us. There will never be a time when lies aren’t being thrown around and we can take our defenses down and call it a day. We are fighting a war and should always be on the defense, renewing our mind and taking every thought captive.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” -Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)
It’s important for us to know our true identity in Christ, so if there ever comes a time when a lie comes into our minds, we can crush it with the truth. The enemy can't read our thoughts, so when we’re declaring truth over ourselves, we have to say it out loud. And whenever we have a lie or a negative thought in our minds, we have to replace it with what is true instead. This is the process of renewing our minds, and over time, that lie won’t have control over us anymore, because the enemy will know that it isn’t going to work.So, the next time a lie pops into your head, such as “I’m not good at anything,” you need to replace it with what God says about you:
“We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.” -Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
And the same goes for every lie that we believe about ourselves, for behind every lie there is a truth.{words: @tatiana.jaeger}
