I am a mom, and I cannot think of a greater gift than being able to nurture children and watch them grow into who God is calling them to be.Today, Mother's Day shouts from every TV station, every podcast, every print ad, and every social media platform. Mother's Day deserves recognition and hype, but it should also allow for gentleness and caring for all motherless daughters and sons and for all women who are mothers to their very core but have no children of their own.Memories of my own childhood are on repeat as the snapshots flash across my mind in quick succession. The years of watching my sons grow up and experience their “firsts” fill my heart as Mother’s Day approaches each year. But through each of these freeze frame moments are the memories of other women who shaped my life: A single aunt, who taught me perseverance and reaching for the stars, women at church, who cheered me on just as loud if not louder than my own mom,the nuns at my high school who were so much more than teachers by blessing me with their wisdom and mentorship.Women are wired as nurturers. They naturally open their arms wide to draw others close in love and comfort. But not all are gifted with children. This year—all women, whether you are a mom or not—have motherhood qualities and motherhood snapshots that should shine and shout of the gloriousness of what Mother's Day is all about. Women are grace-bearers, dream-casters, faith-holders, and love-whisperers. Your inner strength shines as a light to nurture others.

"When I look at you, I see your inner strength, so stately and strong. You are as secure as David’s fortress. Your virtues and grace cause a thousand famous soldiers to surrender to your beauty. Your pure faith and love rest over your heart as you nurture those who are yet infants." –Song of Songs 4:4-5 (TPT)

Take a few minutes today, on this Mother’s Day, to recognize the women in your life who have influenced you.

What qualities do they possess and how have they made a difference in your life?
