Daily Delight
God provides. In the thick of a recession a few years ago, my family found ourselves in financial need. My father had recently lost his job and, as he scrambled to try to find work in an area that didn’t have any, my mother picked up two different jobs to help make ends meet. During this period, we experienced a death of a grandparent, possible foreclosure on our house, and a genuine struggle to financially support ourselves. Throughout this entire time, my dad repeated over and over again, “God provides.” And He did, in every unexpected and unexplainable way possible. One year, an anonymous family provided Christmas presents. The school my mom worked at sent her home with meals to feed us. My dad was provided a job. Each provision, materially and spiritually, can only be accredited to God. Jesus proclaimed, “Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!” (Luke 12:24, ESV). Our Creator’s love for us is immense. He paid His son for us to be reconciled to Him. God will provide. It may not be in the way you will expect. It may not be in the way you necessarily want. But, He will provide.Outside of this experience, I have seen God work and provide for my family, myself, and those around me countless times. Each circumstance leaves me speechless at His goodness simply because He worked in such a way that earthly terms cannot begin to explain. If you are in a season of waiting for provision, keep praying. Our Creator loves you and considers you more valuable than the ravens for whom He has provided for. Persevere through this time and find your dependence on the Lord. He will provide.
