Daily Delight
As I approach my debut into motherhood with each passing day of my third trimester, I can’t help but wonder when I’ll magically wake up with the superwoman Mom skills. Skills such as the power to remove any laundry stain or become a walking detector capable of finding all things lost. And as I think about growing my maternal skill set, I can’t help but recognize how the qualities correlate to growing in Christlike nature as well. After all, isn’t Jesus the ultimate stain remover who is faithful to seek and save all that is or has been lost?Much like I continue to develop desire for growth in motherhood with each experience, my desire to look more like Christ grows with every new encounter. And in and through that desire, I recognize a greater longing to not only live in the fullness of His hope myself but to see others do the same. The more I see how Jesus can cleanse any stain and redeem what is lost, the more my spirit is restless within me seeing anyone settling for less.My heart breaks to witness coworkers drowning in pursuits for satisfaction, failing to recognize the only measure that can fill. I wrestle wearily as I see family members choose hollow path after path only to prolong the inevitable disappointing dead-end. I see struggles in society tainted by sin’s rule and reign as hatred stirs, racism rises and depression debilitates, knowing Jesus truly can and has conquered it all. It would be easy to let the overwhelming and heart wrenching presence of sin daunt us to a stagnant state, but there is great need to gather the pieces of our brokenness for the lost and place every piece into the hands of the only one who can bring beauty from the ashes. Isaiah states perfectly, “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear” (Isaiah 59:1, NIV).God has arms able to embrace the most prodigal of sinners and ears to hear the pleas of His people!May our hearts never grow calloused to a world in need of seeing our Savior!
