Daily Delight

Singleness is not a problem to be fixed, but a blessing to be cherished. At the age of 27, I feel as though there's a sign on my head which reads, 'Help me, I'm not yet complete.'

I, however, did not put that sign there and I find myself being treated as a half, a puzzle missing it's final piece.

I've seen some women take their singleness by the horns and do amazing things. They've served God overseas, pursued education and loved those around them fiercely. I've seen others walk about in despair and sadness, full of comparison and jealousy for those who are married. The latter I do not wish for anyone.

God doesn't want us to let the enemy steal any more joy. As single women we need to cast our cares on Him and actually trust God with our futures, dreams and desires. We need to call Him faithful and mean it. We need to see the beauty in this season and not see our aging selves as unworthy.

I do pray that one day God brings a man into my life, but I do not want to spend every day until then thinking I'm a problem that needs fixing. Embrace your singleness, cherish the freedom it carries. Travel. Serve. Look past what others may say and dive into intimacy with Christ. He is more fulfilling and more faithful than any man could ever be.

And if or when that man does enter your life, you can look back at your single years and see life and love and joy. And your man is simply joining in on what God has done in you and becoming one with someone who is already complete.

Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. -Colossians 2:8-10
