Daily Delight
It can be so easy to get caught up in the opinions of others, especially in our social media age.
We filter, we retouch, we edit, we auto-correct, all to present an image that fits in. But we, dear daughters, have been called to stand out.
Jesus Himself tells us, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 5:14-16, ESV).
We haven't been called to hide or blend in with the crowd, we have been called to stand out and shine brightly for the glory of God.
God hasn’t called us to hide our struggles, He has called us to share our stories.
God hasn’t called us to stay silent in the face of adversity, He has called us to stand firm on His Word and present the truth with Love.
Will others understand? Not always. Will they accuse and criticize? Very likely. Will some agree and praise you for your courage? Hopefully. But in the face of both agreement and conflict, we have been called to remain examples of God’s Truth and Love.
My favorite quote from Lysa Terkeurst is, “Don't let people's compliments go to your head and don't let their criticisms go to your heart.” When they criticize, give God glory. When they compliment, give God glory. In all that you do, allow God’s light to shine through you.
You weren’t made to hide in the shadows, dear sister, you were made to reflect the glorious light of Jesus Christ.
