Daily Delight
Have you ever wondered if God cared about you enough to take notice of the things that concern you? 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7, NLT).
There is absolutely nothing in this world that God is not willing to take off our shoulders.
I found myself being burdened during a trip home. After hearing of death after death and diagnosis after diagnosis, it was just too much for me to bear. I didn’t want to see the sad eyes of those who had been crying and questioning God about what was going on. Some just didn’t understand and I could see hope slipping away so rapidly. But even in the midst of all that was going on in my life, I managed to walk with my head held high, trusting and believing in the God who can make a way out of no way and who is more than able to move mountains. In the midst of me giving Him all that was weighing on me, I received His peace—that peace that surpasses all understanding.
We are to give God every single thing that bothers us. He is concerned with the things that concern us. I was concerned with the broken hearts that surrounded me. I realized that Jesus takes notice and He longs for us to cast those things at His feet. To cast means to “throw [something] forcefully in a specified direction.” Who wouldn’t want to throw every weight, situation, struggle, sin, obstacle at the feet of Jesus? He went to the Cross just so that we don’t have to be burdened with the weight of the world.
Is there something that is weighing on you? I want to encourage you to “throw” whatever it is at the feet of Jesus. You don’t have to carry that burden. Jesus has already carried it for you. Throw every care at His feet, rest in His peace and receive His joy. He wants you to rest in Him.
