Daily Delight
Driving around in the winter, I've been able to see things I never noticed before. The bare trees of winter reveal unique, majestic views that are only enjoyed in this season. What a beautiful reminder that it's in the dreary or hard seasons of life where we have views of our Father we may not notice in the easy times.
Perhaps you're in a season of waiting. Maybe it's a time of singleness, waiting for that positive pregnancy test, or waiting for a job to get better. Whatever the case, life just may seem void of vibrancy or joy right now. If this is you, I encourage you to take a moment to pause and examine things. What are the views in this difficult season that you don't see when life is smooth? What is the Lord wanting you to see, specifically here in this time that you otherwise wouldn't notice? It's so easy for us to miss out on God when life is going well. We tend to think that we don't need God's help or comfort when all is well in our world. But then things change, life gets hard or just mundane, and we're reminded how much we need Him. It's in these winter seasons that we see the love of our Father in a real way if we choose to pause and look to Him.
When hardships come, He reminds us He is our refuge: "Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge” (Psalm 62:8, ESV). When we are waiting for a prayer to be answered, He reminds us He is faithful and sovereign: "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful" (Heb. 10:23, ESV). When we are hurting, He reminds us He is our comfort: "Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction" (2 Cor. 1:3-4, ESV).
You see, winter has its own beauty. If it weren't for the winter seasons of life, we could miss out on these views of our Father we otherwise wouldn't look for.
