Daily Delight
There is always a significant moment in our lives in which God places something on our hearts. Whether it be a calling to move, to invest in a person, or to act on the Word, we are encouraged by the Spirit to shift into new seasons. From the moment Moses experienced the burning bush, he was stirred by the Father to respond to His voice (Exodus 3). It was an immense turn in Moses’ life. He quite suddenly embarked on a journey far beyond himself—a journey to free the people of the Lord.
I don’t know about you, but I yearn for burning bush moments in my life. I read the countless heroic stories in the Word and long for the day that I have my moment. You see, embedded within us, there is a deep longing to live an extraordinary life. And it’s terrifying trying to live up to that kind of standard, hoping that your future isn’t mediocre and fearing that you won’t live out fully who you were created to be. No pressure, right?
In longing for greatness, I personally have lost the picture. Uncertainty, anxiety, and confusion around my purpose has only resulted in trying to control and create my own "extraordinary" future. I think our society is fixated on the idea of purpose. What are you doing with your life? What do you feel God is calling you into? It’s a beautiful journey unpacking what you are made for, but as soon as we focus on that and forget about Who this is actually for, I think we bring ourselves more confusion and anxiety. We forget to realize that, just like Moses who waited over 80 years for his moment, God is preparing us now in the season we are in for the next step that He has planned for us.
