Daily Delight
Sitting in a hospital holding my grandma's hand. The room is still. I try to break the silence and keep things normal since nobody knows what to say. All the while my chair is facing straight toward the digital clock on the wall. Not only does is count the hours and minutes, but this one also counted the seconds. In that moment I started reading again how short life really is.
From the moment we were formed, God knew exactly how much time we would be allowed on this earth. Down to the very second. Sometimes we feel like time goes slowly, especially in the process of waiting. Waiting for news you don't really want to hear. And once we hear that news, those seconds suddenly seem as if they've been given a Red Bull and speed up to triple time.
Life is short.
Today we received news. News none of us wanted to hear. Stage 4 cancer. How can life change so drastically in a matter of seconds? Life was normal just two weeks ago and now we're just begging for more time. In the midst of this we must remember. God had a plan all along. God knows down to the very last second of each of our lives. And he remains faithful. Even when we don't know where to turn we are reminded of this.
"The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." -Psalm 34:18.
Cling to the Lord, your father. He will wrap His arms around you and comfort you even when all seems hopeless and uncertain.
Don't waste your seconds. They are just a precious as days as a whole. Each breath is a gift.
