I’m going to be honest with you for a moment: I get bored reading the Old Testament. *insert shocked emoji face here* I know, I know, it’s not a good thing. But ironically enough, my new Bible study i started just recently is focuses primarily on the Old Testament.
A few days ago, I was working on my homework for a specific section (trying my best to do it daily and not cram all of it into the hour before the video session- I can’t be the only one, right?!) and I had to read the same passage THREE times. Not because it was so good and exactly what I needed to hear, but because my mind kept wandering and thinking of a million other things instead of reading 2 Chronicles.
After praying for focus and forcing myself to close my eyes for a few minutes and reset, I read this passage and was captivated. I would love to be sitting across from you right now, our bibles open in front of us and go over it with you- but since I can’t, I’ll instead tell you this: our God is amazing!
When you get the opportunity, read 2 Chronicles 28:1-27. It’s worth the time (and the multiple reads), because hidden in that passage, somewhere between verses 9-15, you’ll see how completely amazing He is.
Just like King Ahaz, I screw up- we mess up. But we have Jesus’s blood covering us! Those guys in the Old Testament? They faced the wrath of God. But even in His righteous anger, He still showed them mercy and grace. He punished them, and yet protected them all at the same time.
Oh how I love Him.
Sweet friend, how much more does He show us mercy and grace and unending love because His Son died for us? Let me promise you this:
There is nothing, absolutely nothing that you can say or do to make Him want to walk away from us, to not protect us.
Breathe in that truth today.
