Daily Delight
As a children’s minister in a relatively small church, nothing brings more joy to my heart than seeing my kids think for themselves. I don’t have any children of my own, but I love to see the challenges of Scripture and apologetics that are placed before them turn into hard facts of truth and love.
In one of our bible studies, I recently asked them to close their eyes and imagine Jesus’ death on the cross. I asked them to sit silently for 30 seconds and allow themselves to feel the grief, the heartache and the heaviness of the event that occurred for our sin and shame. I asked them to think of one word that described their thoughts and feelings in that moment as they were mentally picturing the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us.
After those 30 seconds passed, they opened their eyes and shared their one word feeling with me. I felt the room’s emotional state change as we discussed words like “guilty”, “heartbroken”, “confused”, and “unworthy”. I don’t remember, as a child, feeling this heavy weight when I thought about Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection.
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:16-19)

The feelings that the kids in my church’s ministry are experiencing are much different than the ones we may struggle with day to day. We can’t fully fathom His great love for us. We weren’t made to understand the grace and mercy He poured out for us because of our sin. Instead, we were created in hopes that we would make the decision to fall in love with Jesus and live our lives daily in serving Him and telling others about the perfect love that He has for us. Allow your Monday to be filled with His perfect love. Believe in His sovereignty and hold fast to His unfailing grace.

Nicole Currie is a 25 year old woman who is passionate about Christ and loving people well. She surrendered her life to Christ as she entered into high school and has been following Him ever since. She is a Children's Minister and leads worship in her hometown at the church she was active in as a child.
Nicole loves encouraging others and believes in the importance of cheering on the family of God when they are experiencing life in the lowest valley or the highest mountain. Nicole is an Arkansas native who loves the Hogs and enjoys playing the piano and guitar, snort-laughing with her friends, and watching cooking shows on television in her spare time.
