Daily Delight
“But if we have hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” -Romans 8:25 (ESV)
Friends, I know too well what it is like to be waiting and waiting in the desert. To feel like you’re wandering aimlessly in the wilderness unsure of what comes next. Sometimes you feel like hope has just taken off like a rocket. And then God? Well, He’s just gone silent.
Please do not lose hope. I have before and I can guarantee you that it is the most depressing place to be. Depression, loneliness, hopelessness, fear, worry, anxiety – none of these come from God, but only that which is good (James 1:17). The season of waiting is a difficult one. It can feel long and drawn out, as if God is withholding from us. But the truth is He's working. He's working in you and in your life. He is orchestrating all these details we have no idea about. “For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right," (Psalm 84:11, NLT). “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert" (Isaiah 43:19, ESV).
I know the struggle. I’ve been there. I am there. I'm like those waiting for the Promised Land, unsure of when I’ll finally be able to reach it. But even though I don’t know when I’ll reach it, what it will consist of, this I do know: my God is good. He is sovereign and He doesn’t break His promises.
“So God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us." -Hebrews 6:18 (NLT)
God has not abandoned or forgotten you. He’s saying “wait just a little longer.” If you give up on Him, lose your hope, you may never know how close you were to your promised land.
Keep clinging to Him, believe in His truth, and trust in His timing.
