Daily Delight

Almost three years ago I was in a serious car accident. Every moment of every day since, I have suffered from pain in my head and neck. A while ago my doctor labeled it chronic. I have been poked and prodded, prescribed and prayed over. Nothing has healed me physically. Not one pill or prayer. But my heart is a different story. I have loved this valley and I have hated it. I have cried myself to sleep and I have shouted for joy and praised my King. I have wrestled with His goodness and been in awe of how He loves me. A roller coaster of emotion. A ride that I don't know if I'll get off of this side of heaven.
I love a quote I heard awhile back by Melissa Helser: "If you know His nature, you will not question His motives." I have never been closer to Jesus. I have never had more compassion for the hurting ones. I have never been more excited for heaven. I have never sought answers or wrestled more with my faith. I am so thankful for that. I'm so thankful for the cross. Jesus said that in this world we will have trouble, but He's overcome it all. So when I wake up and I can't think clearly because of the pain, I look to Jesus; the author and perfecter of my faith, the One who walks each step with me and knows the pain; for He bore it. And the closer I get to Him, the more constant my faith is, the more great my joy is, the stronger my patience is.
Daughters, He works everything together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. That's us. The world will tell you that you don't deserve the pain, but that's not it at all. Pain is a part of this world.
What will you do with yours? Curse God and give in to anger? Or glorify His name and shine for all the world to see? The latter, dear ones, gives way to life. The hard days still hurt, but I promise you He is good. And the valley is full of flowers, who get life from the Living Water running down the mountainside.
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." -Romans 12:12 (NIV)
