Daily Delight
“The eye is the lamp of the body, so then if your eye is clear your whole body will be filled with light.” -Matthew 6:22
It’s no news that we live in a fallen world, and it seems to become worse as the days go by. Media echoes that chaos is constantly ensuing. Anxiety is brewing. The sad stories that get passed around get sadder. But I'd like to believe that it's all a matter of perspective. It’s all about what our eye is choosing to see as Matthew 6:22 says.
We can choose to see things the way that the world advertises them or we can choose to have God's view. The darkness may be getting darker but the light is getting brighter. Light and darkness cannot occupy the same place. Eternally, light always wins.
What are you choosing to see? Are the circumstances of this world causing you to stress and worry? Or are you filled with hope?
When Jesus walked this earth he was not dismayed by how bad situations looked. He knew that He carried a gospel of hope and power. He knew the Kingdom that He carried.
When we are convinced of who He is, we keep our perspective clear and we are filled with hope. When our eyes move off of Him, we are flooded with the world's view of circumstances and we can't help but become hopeless.
As Christian women, it is time for us to walk in the authority of the Kingdom that we carry. We can no longer be disillusioned and threatened by the world around us. Instead, we must rise to the call of Jesus to be the light of the world. It is time for us to carry the Kingdom in to dark places and situations.
When the doctor gives a devastating report, when the news station speaks of war, when the bills pile up, when your city is racially divided, let us not despair and complain and seek our own comfort. Rather, let us speak to those situations with the healing power of Jesus and the light of who He is.
Let's not let the world steal our light.
Let's encourage one another to carry the light of the Kingdom around us and watch the darkness be transformed to light.
