Some days are just hard. Some days, there are no ways around a situation; no answers; no end in sight. These are the days that show us who we really are.

Do we persevere through the situation? Do we keep looking and searching for the answer? Do we go in faith, not knowing when it will end?

Or, do we give up?

I'm craving an adventure, so I've been praying and asking God to lead me on one.

Does the phrase, "Be careful what you pray for" ring a bell? Well in my case, it should be dinging quite loudly!

You see, I asked Him for an adventure, but I was thinking in terms of flying somewhere new.
I know that His plans are far greater than my own, but the adventure I'm catching a glimpse of is absolutely nothing like what I envisioned. It’s entirely too much like a storm. And I don't like storms.

Not too long ago, I learned that the eye of a physical storm is actually the calmest and safest part. I’m thinking that the same can be said of a spiritual and emotional storm.

In the center of all of life's problems, all the ups and downs, twists and turns, there is One who stands strong, mighty, calm, safe. “Like birds hovering, so the Lord of hosts will protect Jerusalem; he will protect and deliver it; He will spare and rescue it” (Isaiah 31:5, ESV). Even though it might feel as if we are all alone at times, we can be 1000% sure that God has never left our side. He picks us right up, and He won't set us down until we get on the other side of the storm.

Hindsight is 20/20. We won't be able to tell much from in the moment, but when we look back on the rough storms we encountered in this life, we will the difference. We’ll see how the storm changed and molded us into who we are now. We’ll see the footprints of the One who was there through it all, good and bad; the One who never left.

So be encouraged!

If you're going through a grand adventure, do not forget that the Lord your God is walking right beside you.

And if you're in the same place as I am, seeing the adventure ahead of you as a storm, then know that He is lifting you into His arms and walking you through.

We are perfectly safe.
