Daily Delight

During my sophomore year of college, I remember sitting in Starbucks, journaling out my frustration about how life wasn’t going my way. My dad had undergone surgery the previous week and I was exhausted. I had been arguing with him about how I was torn to come home to be closer to our family while receiving every “no” that a parent could throw back at their stubborn child.
It was there where I distinctly heard God’s voice telling me to pack up my belongings and go home. I was angry. I felt like I was thriving at the university I was attending. I was studying the most perfect major, experiencing life with the greatest friends, and drawing close to the Father in more ways than I had ever known. But, I knew I would be miserable if I stayed.
“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.’” (Ruth 1:16-17, NIV)
I cannot even begin to imagine Ruth’s situation with Naomi. Not only was she in a foreign place, but her husband had just died. She was not only grieving, but she also felt the call to go with Naomi, even if it wasn’t comfortable.
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)
God grants us peace in the midst of uncertainty. He’ll provide the finances to survive, the relationships we need, and the experiences to show us how faithful He truly is. If we step out in faith, He will provide so much more than our minds can fathom. Through the difficult move I made going back home, I was able to be with my family, meet the friends who would become my “framily”, and be given opportunities to stretch my faith and trust in the Lord farther than I could ever dream. The Lord is good. Step out in faith and seek out what He’s calling you to do.
