Daily Delight

Every day is a gift. Every moment has potential. I often hear "TGIF" or "ugg Monday" and I think, why are we waiting for Fridays and dreading Mondays? Do we see the value of each day? Do we let the day of the week or the time of the year affect our outlook or attitude?
I've lived long enough to know that the happiness of a weekend doesn't last. It's always "gone" as Switchfoot sings. Lately my weekends have been Wednesday/Thursday and it's helping to shift my mindset. Though each day looks and feels different, I'm beginning to see a theme. I'm seeing the same needs, the same potential and the same questions, every day. I'm seeing a beautiful, but hurting world. I'm seeing my alarm clock as a wave washing over the sand and creating something new.
Mostly, I'm seeing beauty on a Monday morning and sadness on a Friday night. All in all, I'm learning to be content and to praise His name no matter what. I'm learning to live for Jesus and not Fridays, to mourn my sin and not Mondays; to switch off the idea that life is a revolving door and that's how it's always gonna be.
Choose joy my friends. Choose to speak life over those Mondays. Choose to welcome the Wednesdays and smile at the Sundays. Because they are just that- days. And each one carries something beautiful.
The Father has commanded the sun to rise today, spoken to the rain to fall and the colours to change, caused the moon to appear and cast its light. He calls each one "good" as He did when He created them.
I think we need to look at each dawn with the same amount of wonder and motivation as the one before.
His mercies are new every morning. Even on a Monday.
"Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
-Psalm 90:14 (ESV)
