God’s love is very different from human love. God’s love is unconditional; it is not based on feelings or emotions. He doesn’t love us because we’re lovable. If we’re honest, we’re anything but lovable. He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him and sacrificed His son to restore that relationship. As humans, our love is not only conditional, it is also unpredictable. We’re fickle and flakey. We love based on feelings and emotions that can change from one moment to the next. While God’s love is unwavering, unmoved and unmatched.
He also knows everything. Every lie you’ve ever told. Every secret you’ve ever kept. Everything you’re hiding. Everything your heart desires. He knows what your passions, hopes and dreams are. He’s all seeing, all knowing and all encompassing. All in your business whether you like it or not. He is madly in love with you, forever chasing you, consistently forgiving you, never giving up on you and sought death on a cross for you. The greatest love story ever told. The deepest love ever known. There aren’t enough words to express the magnitude of God’s love for you. God’s love is undeniable and inexhaustible. It doesn’t matter how messed up you are or your situation is you always have an intimate connection where everything is seen and always loved.
When I feel unloved, alone or rejected, I remind myself that God is loving me even when I don’t feel like anyone else is. He has handpicked me for a relationship with Him and I plan to pursue that relationship with my entire being. For some of us, it’s hard to accept love from others and in turn it’s been hard to accept love from God. The root of the problem is we’ve been mishandled, loved improperly and offered a misrepresentation of love. Allow God to show you how to love and how to be loved. Cultivate a loving relationship with God. One that can never be taken from you. He is yours and you are His. Trust Him with your heart, His hands are the safest place for it to be.
