You want to hear something crazy? I want to be labeled a sinner.
I know, sounds strange- but I was reading 1 Timothy 1:15 and that was the thought that crossed my mind. Why? Paul wrote and told Timothy, "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost" (ESV). Doesn't it sound like he was all set to be the first in line of sinners? To me it did- and it got me thinking: Paul was right.
I can't tell you how many times I've messed up- just in this past week! And every single time I feel like I've let God down, let others down, let myself down. For some reason, I tend to try to be that "perfect" person people tend to see me as, and it's exhausting.
So when I stumbled across that verse the weight was lifted off my heart. Jesus didn't come to save perfect people! He came to save sinners, and I couldn't be more thankful for that!
Now, I'm not saying this is an excuse to be a sinner on purpose, but here's what I am saying: If you're struggling keeping up this perfect façade, let it drop. What I am saying is that you don't have to be perfect. What I am saying is that if Jesus saves the sinner, label me one, because I so desperately need Him.
