Daily Delight
For the past few years, the thought of "going through the motions" has given me physical anxiety at every turn. I often struggle with wanting to keep up with the fancy travel Instagram accounts or the insane number of articles on Facebook about how all of these people are living "their best life". The moment I begin to feel envy creep in, I hear the giggling of my bank account as it quickly turns me to the reality that there is no room in my budget to stress about how "mundane" I think my life may be.
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)
The anxieties we allow Satan to put into our hearts, minds, and souls are far from the simple truth of our Father. If we are fixed on living "our best life" here on Earth, then we will never be satisfied with our lives. Our treasures are not of this world. They are awaiting us at Home. There is no way for a follower of Christ to "live their best life" while we're here because the best is yet to come. We have the opportunity to live in His love, His grace, and His mercy through salvation, which makes for the best life we could ever receive.
Don't waste your days in unnecessary anxiety or in exhaustion with keeping up with the world. Use this Monday as a starting block for telling others of how Christ loves them and has an even better idea of our "best life" than we could ever understand. You can do this, dear friend! The best is yet to come!
