During church we read over John 19:16-30 and he asked us a question that I had never considered: Have you noticed what the event of the Cross may have looked like on the outside looking in? Imagine following along with Jesus those three years of His ministry, believing with everything in you that He is God, He is King, He is Savior. And then imagine what you would have felt as you watched Him hang on the Cross, take a final struggling breath, and then- nothing. The heavens didn't open up, He didn't open His eyes and say, "Gotcha!" In every sense of the word, death had won. And while those who wanted Him gone rejoiced, those who loved Him were covered in defeat.
I know you know the story. In three days He proved that not even death could defeat Him. Instead He conquered death and in doing so, conquered death for every single one of His believers. And victory reigns.
Sometimes, what feels like defeat is really a victory. We just have to wait and see.
The same can be said for whatever it is you're going through that makes you feel like you are losing. Hang tight sweet friend, Jesus is working on that victory. I want you to know that I am currently working on believing in this with my whole heart, and I would love to have you join me:
In Jesus, we cannot lose.
I know sometimes it may feel like it, but the disciples all thought Jesus was gone forever at one time. And just like He showed up in the midst of them, He will show up in the midst of what you are going through too.
Just be patient and hold on, victory is coming.
