Every Single Detail

The other day, I found myself scrolling my feed in an attempt to avoid my feelings and these words stopped me in my tracks:

"Included in God's perfect timing, are the details of your life."

Every Single Detail, Really?

Sure, it's a reminder of the obvious, but my heart is tempted to question it in this current season of life.

God, are *all* the details of my life included in this?

Job's Example

Next, I read through parts of the book of Job. He lost everything, and it hurt him deeply that God would allow this to happen. He had so many questions, thoughts, and frustrations that he brought to the feet of the Father. Job was completely devastated by the season he was in. And yet, just verses after asking God to end his life, Job says, "And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!" (Job 19:26-27, NIV)

Every Single Detail, Really.

After all his suffering, it was God that he craved. Not the return of things past. Not replacements for everything lost. Just God. And when Job repented "in dust and ashes" (Job 42:6), and God restored him, the sentences scroll with all the blessing bestowed on him. It carries the richness of a fairytale ending but with so much more glory. So much beauty for Job’s ashes. "After this Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. And so Job died, an old man and full of years" (Job 42:16-17, NIV).

My dear sister, God had large and abundant portions of beauty for Job’s ashes. And He has beauty for you, too. He didn't fail Job and He won't fail you. May this truth be one we all cling tightly to, today and all our tomorrows.
