How’s Your Response?
How we respond to the things we encounter in life says a lot about who our master is.
When Paul and Silas spoke of Christ’s work on the cross to two different bodies of believers, they were met with completely different reactions.
Acts 17 tells us that in Thessalonica, the Jews were angered by their words and formed a mob. In Berea, the people weighed everything that the men said against Scripture — they knew that God’s Word is the standard for truth.
We know that the heart is deceitful above all things (Jeremiah 17:9), and that our feelings and emotions are not trustworthy. But His Book is truth (John 17:17).
You and I may have lots of feelings and opinions about a variety of things right now. It’s only human to experience emotional responses.
But we must take everything back to the Word of God because it is there that we find stability and truth.
Sister, who is your master? Is it Christ?
We are not our own (1 Corinthians 6:20). When He is our Lord and Master, we take everything we think and feel to Him and His Word.
Pray and ask God to bind your heart to His, to give you self-control and to help you cling to His Word.
