If I’m not careful, I can dwindle the miraculous down to a Sunday morning church experience.  My pride demands that He gets about an hour and a half to show up before it’s announced, “God, God, God, has, has, has officially, officially, officially, left, left, left the, the, the, building, building, building.” Further, that He will only show up if the songs are sung at a particularly loud volume, infused with magical chords, in the right key- that He might show Himself if we do all the things that we know He loves. Can I be honest? I can fall into the mindset that God will fraction more of His self if I meet certain expectations, like I’ll get 8% more accessibility to my Creator if I serve in the children’s ministry.  Have we equated His presence to an Oreo cookie reward?
I often have to be reminded that there’s nothing I can do to earn more of God. I just need to BE with Him. We have full access. He’s a breath away.  He’s not looking at how right we’re getting things; the pursuit is for our hearts. The lover of our soul wants us to love Him with all of our heart and soul.
I’m choosing to reach for the miraculous every day. I've stopped looking for God in all of the places I've expected Him to show up in and am asking Him to take me to places He wants me to be. I've stopped asking God to work how I think he should and believe Him for exceedingly more than I can imagine. I’m done asking Him to be what I think that He should and am allowing Him to be all that He is. I'm done asking God to change people and am asking Him to change me. I’ve laid down my demands in exchange for Him to exceed my expectations. I've started requesting His presence more and stopped demanding my preference.
I don’t want Him to be anything other than who He is because He has always allowed me to be who I am. And He loves me.
