Daily Delight

  

This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. -Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Courage.

This word symbolizes a lot in my journey so far. A few years ago I was in a really dark place. I was trying to cope with my father's death, an abusive relationship, toxic friendships, battles with my own health, and my mom's diagnosis with cancer. I felt like my world was caving in before me. 

I was 17 years old at the time and all of these trials happened within two years. I was at my end. I was done. But God wasn't. 

Sister, if you are struggling, if your heart is breaking, if you are experiencing uncertainty or loss, let me reassure you right now. You are not alone. Your God goes with you wherever you go. He is not going to take you somewhere and leave you to fend for yourself. 

The word courage is a constant reminder of the Father's love during that rough season for me. He freely graced so much courage over me in this time and I know He will do the same for you. All you have to do is ask. (Mathew 7:7, NIV)

We serve a God of love, a God of comfort, a God that knows, a God that goes before us and a God that can turn your broken into beauty! (Isaiah 61:3)

If you are in a similar season, I want to encourage you that it is just that; a season. As awful, painful and horrible as it may be, it will be over one day. When I was in the midst of anguish I wanted to escape. I wanted my dad to come back. I wanted out of the abuse. I wanted my mom to be better. But friend, as one of my favorite quotes states, "You can't have a rainbow without a little bit of rain."

I promise you, you are going to flourish. Your colors will sharpen. And God is going to use you to shine bright for His glory once your tough season is done. Just trust the process. Beauty for ashes.
