Daily Delight
“Planner” might be a vastly understated description of what I consider myself to be. I may not be the tidiest of housewives, but when it comes to structuring my weeks, I like my days organized and orderly. While organization can no doubt be a positive trait, I will admit that sometimes as a Christian it’s difficult to walk the tightrope of plans and faith. I easily concoct a recipe of success with dashes of imagination, sprinkles of ambition, and cups full of ideologies of what my life could and should be. I’ve dreamed up a million different career paths, home interior designs, ministry projects and plenty of other ventures just grasping at a sense of accomplishment and worth. Yet one by one I watch each dissipate as I see God steer me more often than not in a far more unforeseen direction. And with every change in path and pace, I recognize more and more how trustworthy He is in holding my life in His hands.
“For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” -Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
It encourages me to know that while I often feel like my own work in progress, what I truly am is a work of the Lord! All along, regardless of my efforts and attempts, God has planned in advance any work I have done or will do. When I finally remove my boss badge and surrender it to the planner with far greater credentials, it’s a relief to know that the God who knows me has specific works in mind unique and specific to who He created to be. Trusting in our own plans, talents and pursuits is faulty at best. But surrendering to the God who has known our steps before the first has ever been taken is sure to be rewarding. However you’re feeling in your current state of life, whether flourishing or floundering, know that through Christ Jesus there is work to be done that has your name sovereignly written all over it!{photo: @victorialemosphotography}
