He is a lamp between your feet, not your football field.”I heard this quote recently from Jamie Golden, someone I admire online. She was being asked if she had a 5 year plan or basically any plans for the future. As someone who once prided herself on having her whole life plan figured out, this quote stood out to me.The quote stems from Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” God is right here with us, guiding us step by step. Having future plans and goals figured out is nice and helpful, but at the end of the day, God orchestrates it all. The future is going to happen, whether we plan it to the detail or take it one day at a time.Contrary to popular belief, we don’t have to have everything in our lives figured out by the time we’re 25; whether you’re a college senior, 29, or 54, God is lighting your way, step by step. He knows you and is leading you exactly where you need to be.  He is the lamp between our feet, so we can focus on being right where he put us, knowing that that is exactly where he wants us to be. Instead of dwelling and fixating on the football field of life before us, we can be where our feet are because we know God is holding our lives and our hand.Let God be the lamp between your feet, trusting that He is lighting your path every step of the way. You are exactly where you need to be, so let yourself be planted there instead of trying to plan everything around you. Let God plan; His plans are going to be immeasurably more than any football field-sized plan we can conjure up on our own.
