Daily Delight
Last week, my husband and I drove our little house into Grand Teton National Park. As we quietly passed through the trees and hills, it was as if curtains were lifted from the stage and magic was revealed. We watched a deep orange sunset disappear behind the jagged Teton peaks. It was truly breathtaking. I grew up not far from this area, so I had already been to Grand Teton a handful of times, but I don't think it's ever become less magnificent. The grandeur of God's creation is overwhelming. Seeing the Tetons that jut from the ground, the redwoods (whose mass is shocking), the sunflower fields, the crashing ocean waves, the stunning splendor of flowering trees, the first of spring...I could go on and on about the amazing things I've seen that have been formed by the Most High.I feel nearest to the presence of God in the midst of nature. Now, I know not everyone has had the privilege to see the Tetons, or the ocean, or the Redwoods, but I can tell you there is equally as much splendor in a front yard flower!Scale does not measure intricacy or beauty. With that in mind, no matter where you are I encourage and challenge you to spend time in the Lord's creation. When you spend time observing the artwork of an artist you begin to have a deeper understanding of who that artist is. From the grandeur of the mountains, to the wildness of the sea, to the intricacy of a wild flower. From the playfulness of a puppy to the fierceness of a lion... these things, this creation, is made by our God. In the same way He placed His image upon us, He also placed His attributes all throughout creation.Seek Him out where He's placed the details of His heart.
"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." -Romans 1:20 (NIV)
