Daily Delight
I’ve always been the strong one. Really, for as long as I can remember, I’ve been the one that stayed strong for everyone else in the middle of a hard situation. Which is lovely until I am the one that needs help and I’m the one that needs someone to be strong for them and I have no idea how to ask for help.Maybe it’s just me, but when you are used to being strong for everyone else, it seems like it’s really hard to ask for help when you are the one who needs it. But here is the thing, nobody and I do mean nobody is supposed to live completely independent of other people. We all need a little support, extra prayers, hugs, and HELP sometimes. It’s part of being human, it’s part of being part of the body. It’s part of being part of something bigger than just yourself.I am learning that I can be both strong and vulnerable. I can be strong in the strength of the Lord, keep my heart tender before Him, and be vulnerable with my inner circle peeps whom I trust to pray Biblical, faith-filled, victory prayers. And while for my super competitive self, any victory is sweet a victory. A victory that was achieved with the heartfelt help of others and my Victorious Jesus is even sweeter than one I just white-knuckled through while I stood fast on the promises of God by myself. We were made to be in community with other believers. None of us were created to be independent of other Christians. Maybe it’s time to reach out a little and start sharing the load and sharing the victories.
“Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not for status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?”-Romans 15:1-2 (MSG)
