Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only the say the word, and my servant will be healed." -Matthew 8:8 (ESV)
Recently, I have been flooded with anxiety about mistakes that are far behind me. I have taken these things to God time and time again, but sometimes they just sneak in to drag me back to a state of mind that I don't want to visit or work through anymore.

If you’re anything like me, there is something, that one unforgivable thing, from your past that you just can’t seem to let go of. You can go for a time and distract yourself, but months later, when you’re least expecting it, it comes creeping back to haunt you.

Maybe, like me, you become overwhelmed with guilt and shame, and you beat yourself up over how unworthy you are of forgiveness. How unworthy you are of being healed. Maybe this is not the first time you've asked Him to heal this particular area of your life.

Possibly, you already know that Christ can heal this wound, but you’re scared to let go because it means that He’s going to change something deep within you. Despite our unworthiness and doubt, Christ invites us to have faith in His compassion and mercy.

Like the centurion in Matthew 8:8, we must have faith that Christ can heal even our deepest, most agonizing wounds. Even if it is the one thousandth time we've brought this specific burden to Him, Christ still longs to grant you healing and peace.

Our Lord never tires of pulling us close to His heart of mercy, all we have to do is allow Him to say the word. Have faith that even if the healing process hurts, it will be worth the struggle. Humbly draw near to Him and allow Him to heal and transform what lies deep within your heart.
"He will be our peace." -Micah 5:5
